Miss Kinondoni 2016 Diana Edward Donated Medical Equipment To Mwananyamala Hospital in DSM Yesterday

Diana, who was accompanied by Miss Kinondoni Personality 2016, Happiness Munis and Miss Kinondoni first runner-up, Reginal Ndimbo handed over to the maternity ward equipment worth over 1m/-.

The donated equipment include Pulse Oxpmetre, Doppler machine, Blood Pressure machine and Rbg Thermometer 30. Miss Diana said the donation was part of fulfilment of the promises she made before winning the Miss Kinondoni title, one among them was to assist the fight against mother and child deaths.

She also acknowledged the organiser of Miss Kinondoni beauty pageant, Rahmat Entertainment and Transsevent Company Limited for enabling her to fulfil the promise.

On his part, Dr Benedict Luoga, who was in-charge of the labour ward on the day commended Miss Diana for supporting the maternity ward with vital equipment in saving the lives of mother and children.

“We commend the Miss Kinondoni 2016 and the Miss Kinondoni beauty pageant organisers for their decision to support the Mwanyamala Hospital, especially the maternity ward. This ward faces various challenges in saving the lives of mother and child during birth but with this donation, it will make the battle against mother and child death much easier,” said Dr Luoga.

According to the hospital Patron Musa Wambura, the hospital receives 30 to 40 pregnant women in the labour and delivery ward per day in low seasons and over 100 in high seasons.

Wambura insisted that the equipment donated will enhance the ongoing good work at the labour ward of ensuring they reduce or bring to an end the maternal mortality at the hospital.

“Currently, the maternal mortality rate has gone down due to the efforts and campaign aimed at reducing or stopping mother and child death and the trend shows the battle is going on well.

By providing required knowledge to mothers coupled with support from various stakeholders such as Miss Kinondoni, we might win the battle,” said Wambura. Miss Diana Edward was crowned Miss Kinondoni 2016 on September 2, this year, whereby Regina Ndimbo and Happiness Munisi emerged the first and second runner ups respectively.
